There is currently a significant shortage of many medications in the country. Association of Pharmacy Owners Chair Nikolay Kostov pointed out that over 380 medications are missing from pharmacies. According to him, two electronic systems are currently being integrated—the national health insurance system and the national health information system—which will reduce errors when fulfilling prescriptions and allow prescriptions to be issued in real-time.

On the other hand, the inclusion of another system further complicates the situation with prescription issuance and may lead to interruptions and the inability to issue prescriptions, Nikolay Kostov added.
