Partial state of emergency on the territory of the municipality of Varna is in effect until April 6 due to a fuel oil spill in the Black Sea, which has reached the coastline and the beach. The source of the pollution remains unknown. The first samples from the site have shown the presence of petroleum products. So far, 140 bags of petroleum products have been collected from the beach. The cleanup will be completed by the end of the day.

The Maritime Administration says that so far six ships have been checked but no violations have been found. Inspections of three more ships are pending. According to the director of the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection and Water Erdzhan Sebaitin, another spot in the sea was photographed by satellite. The spot will be examined, BNR correspondent Daniela Stoynova reported from Varna.
