Today, 2 April, on Autism Awareness Day, the Burgas Bridge will be illuminated in blue as a sign of empathy, the Municipality of Burgas announced.
The day was established in 2007 by the UN General Assembly to ensure that every society creates conditions for people with autism to exercise their rights and freedoms.
In Sofia, the Central Sofia Market Hall hosted two special events yesterday to mark Autism Awareness Day. The first was a photo exhibition entitled "Through My Eyes and Yours" by Sevdalin Tlachenski, a young man on the autism spectrum and a student of Film and Television Cinematography at the New Bulgarian University. The second event was a charity bazaar with ceramic products made in the Art and Jump workshop.
Both events aim to raise part of the 200,000 BGN (100,000 EUR) needed to renovate and equip the Autistica Villa in Sofia, which will serve as a day center for children and young people with autism spectrum disorders.
