Road Infrastructure Agency: Drivers should prepare for winter road conditions

Photo: BTA

Drivers travelling today and in the coming days should prepare their vehicles for winter conditions, the Road Infrastructure Agency has urged. The weather forecast is for worsening conditions, rain and snow showers and strong winds.

Snow is currently falling on the Petrohan Pass and the route is being treated with snow-removal machines to ensure the safety of travellers. Winter has returned to many places, including the capital, Sofia.

Regional road administrations are on standby to treat roads in high mountain areas and passes where icy and slippery conditions can occur, especially early in the morning when temperatures are lower. Priority will be given to motorways, the busiest first and second class routes and passes linking northern and southern Bulgaria.
