After the fire: Emergency break for students at the National School of Applied Arts in Tryavna

Fundraising campaign launched to restore historic building

After a fire destroyed the roof of the historic National High School of Applied Arts in Tryavna on Friday morning, students are taking a week-long emergency break. With the help of the fire brigade, civil protection teams and local businesses, the charred remains are being cleared and the school covered with tarpaulins.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Culture is working to repair the damage to the building, which has historical and cultural value. Experts from the ministry are expected to arrive in Tryavna tomorrow to examine the documentation required for the upcoming reconstruction work.

Two fundraising campaigns have also been announced - one by the "Ivan Vazov 2014" Community Centre and the other by the "Gabrovo - Then and Now" Foundation. The collected funds will be used to restore the destroyed ateliers and purchase new specialised equipment.

For the time being, it is not possible for the students to return to the school dormitory, so they are on a one-week emergency break," said director Orfey Mindov. During this time, classes will be moved to another school building in the city.
