The Chamber Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra with artistic director Radoslaw Szulc is among the special guests at the 25th European Music Festival in Sofia. The first performance of the elite ensemble in the capital city will take place on April 14 (Monday) at 7:30 pm in Bulgaria Concert Hall and will undoubtedly bring joy to the fans of classical music on the eve of the biggest holiday for all Christians – Easter.

The attractive program of the skilled instrumentalists from of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra includes music by Italian and Slavic composers: Vivaldi, Tartini, Dvorak, and Tchaikovsky. The soloist will be Austro-Bulgarian violinist of international acclaim Mario Hossen, who shares that he is truly excited about the upcoming performance, as his colleagues are "musicians who live entirely for music''. ''They are not just professionals who perform their duties perfectly, but they invest a lot of emotion and personal attitude", says Mario Hossen.

The ensemble has performed in many prestigious concert halls worldwide, and its soloists have included celebrities such as Lang Lang, Julia Fischer, Misha Maisky, Sabine Meyer, Pinchas Zukerman, Diana Damrau, Igor Levit, Hélène Grimaud, Vadim Repin, Janine Jansen and Maxim Vengerov.
Artistic director Radoslaw Szulc is a violinist and conductor with a remarkable career. He received numerous awards in international competitions such as the Wieniawski Competition in Poland, the Sibelius Competition in Finland and the Wiener Kreisler Competition in Austria. In 1992, Szulc was awarded the Henryk Szeryng Memorial Prize.

A special guest in the program on April 14 will be the Italian harpsichordist Piero Barbareschi, a renowned performer of baroque music, with an active concert career as a soloist and in various chamber ensembles in Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, the Czech Republic and the USA.
The European Music Festival is organized by Cantus Firmus with the financial support of the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture and Sofia Municipality as part of the 2025 Sofia Municipality Cultural Events Calendar.
