"Bulgarian" is the title of a new bilingual book featuring the works of Ivaylo Balabanov (1945-2021), which is being prepared for print on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the birth of the unforgettable Bulgarian poet. Printing the book in both Bulgarian and English will allow Ivaylo Balabanov’s poetry to travel across the world. One of the goals of the creative team that prepared the book for print is to bridge generations through Bulgarian cultural centers and Sunday schools around the world.
Ivaylo Balabanov’s works have admirers all across the country. In addition to his poems, the book includes his manuscripts, certificates, statuettes, personal photographs and publications in periodicals. Every year in Svilengrad, the poet's hometown, a recitation contest called "Nebesen Gurbetchiya" is held. It is named after one of Ivaylo Balabanov’s emblematic works.
The collection will be specially presented in the village of Huhla, the author's birthplace, on September 21 this year, during the annual cultural festival "The Mysteries of Huhla 2025".
