Weather forecast for 6 May

Risk of hail on St George's Day

On Tuesday, minimum temperatures will be between 10 and 15°C, in Sofia - 13°C. The day will be mostly sunny with showers in the afternoon and evening. In western and northern Bulgaria there will be thunderstorms with the possibility of heavy rain and hail. A yellow code for dangerous rainfall has been issued for three regions in north-west Bulgaria. Maximum temperatures will be between 25 and 30°C, around 25°C in the capital.


In the mountains it will be mostly sunny before noon. After midday, cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop with short showers and thunderstorms. The probability of heavy rain and hail is increased in the mountainous areas of Western and Central Bulgaria. The maximum temperature will be around 18°C at 1,200 m and around 12°C at 2,000 m.


Along the Black Sea coast it will be mostly sunny with clouds and showers in the afternoon. Maximum air temperatures will be between 19 and 25°C. Sea temperatures will be 13-15°C. The sea will be 1-2 on the Beaufort scale.


On Wednesday, the air mass over the country will be unstable and cooler air will flow in. Rain clouds with short showers will develop in many parts of the country. There is a high chance of significant local rainfall and hail. Daytime temperatures will fall to between 19 and 25°C.
