The Day of Bravery and the Bulgarian Army (May 6) was marked at the Bulgarian Military Memorial in Novo Selo, BGNES reported.

The memorial, where the mortal remains of 71 Bulgarian soldiers are laid to rest, is located near the town of Strumica (North Macedonia). It is just one of 471 Bulgarian military cemeteries in North Macedonia, where those who died in the Balkan Wars, the Second Balkan War and World War I are buried. The fallen soldiers came from all regions of today’s Bulgaria and from territories lost under the Treaty of Neuilly. Hundreds of citizens paid tribute to those who died for their homeland. Metropolitan Naum of Strumica offered a requiescat prayer for the fallen together with Pavel Milushev, the Archpriest Vicar of the Petrich region.

The event was attended by the National Guard Unit, Bulgarian Ambassador to North Macedonia Zhelyazko Radukov and the military attachés of Croatia, Italy, Romania, Turkiye, China and Ukraine.
