"I would not presume to comment on what I know or do not know about the F-16 fighter jet. Everything must follow the proper procedure", National Assembly Deputy Speaker Atanas Atanasov said in an interview with BNR.

On May 7, he is convening a session of the Parliamentary Committee for Oversight of the Security Services to clarify the reasons for the defect found in a circuit board of the newly acquired F-16 fighter. The aircraft arrived at the beginning of April but has not yet flown. ''We need to find out whether the aircraft crossed the ocean with this defect and what exactly happened”, said Atanas Atanasov, who currently chairs the committee on a rotating basis.

In his words, parliament and MPs should not be vilified for asking questions. “Those who pay—the Bulgarian people—have the right to know both the good and the problems, and how they will be resolved”, the MP said.
