“I hope that our MPs will fulfill their commitments not only to the eurozone, but also to democracy. It is surprising that people who call themselves the greatest democrats declare themselves against democracy.” This is how President Rumen Radev commented in Pirdop on the idea of “Democratic Bulgaria” to vote on a declaration in the National Assembly, stating that we will adopt the euro in 2026.

The head of state announced his intention to request a national referendum with the question: “Do you agree that Bulgaria should adopt the single European currency, the euro, in 2026?”, which is opposed by most political forces.
Regarding the draft resolution submitted to parliament by GERB-SDS to dismiss the chairman of the State Security Agency Plamen Tonchev and nominate him as chairman of the secret files committee, Rumen Radev commented that the goal is to control the services and use them against inconvenient people.
