The main reason for introducing the subject "Religion and Virtues" is to strengthen moral education, Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev said in an interview with public service broadcaster BNT. According to him, “this will be a class in education in virtues and will not include evaluation.”

He emphasized that the subject will not be imposed on any child against the will of their parents. Minister Valchev also announced that changes to the school curricula are forthcoming, including for specialized subjects. Urgent attention will also be paid to the shortage of staff in technical fields.
