The leader of “Vazrazhdane”, Kostadin Kostadinov, told journalists in the National Assembly that President Rumen Radev should ask the Constitutional Court about the referendum on the euro, BTA reported. Bulgaria’s head of state Radev came out with a position that citizens should be given the opportunity to say whether they agree with adopting the euro in 2026. However, his proposal was not allowed to proceed to a vote in the plenary hall.

Parliament will not discuss president's request for referendum on the euro
“The Constitution explicitly gives the Bulgarian President the right to approach the Constitutional Court and ask whether this action by Nataliya Kiselova is in line with the Constitution”, said Kostadin Kostadinov.
He added that President Radev should do so as quickly as possible. Kostadin Kostadinov further noted that if the president’s team has difficulty drafting such a request, his party and “any lawyer” can help.
“Two of the key principles in the Constitution have been violated – the separation of powers and the rule of law. This cannot go without consequences”,said the leader of “Vazrazhdane.” He also stated that if the president does not refer the matter to the Constitutional Court, his party will begin collecting signatures and will approach the institution.
