Work is currently underway to establish a network of “Shops for the People,” Agriculture Minister Georgi Tahov announced at a meeting of the relevant parliamentary committee in response to a question about the progress of work on state-owned stores, the establishment of which was approved with the 2025 budget.
“Our goal is to create a socially oriented trade,” Georgi Tahov said. The goal is for Bulgarian essential goods and products to be sold with a minimal markup.
The team of the Ministry of Agriculture is already preparing a list of goods to be included in the new store network, the minister also said. A competition to design a logo for the stores is about to be announced, while children from the high school of art in Sofia will be invited to participate.
