Regarding the intention stated by President Rumen Radev to refer the matter to the Constitutional Court, Vice President Iliana Iotova told journalists that she would in no way prejudge the decision of one of the most authoritative Bulgarian institutions. “We will wait for their decision and read their motives – this is the normal relationship between institutions; we must preserve their independence, as well as the independence of the presidential institution,” she commented.

Recently, the Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova did not allow the request to hold a referendum on whether to adopt the European currency in 2026 to enter the plenary hall and the president threatened to refer the matter to the court over “an unprecedented violation of legality.”

Iliana Iotova also commented on the strike of public transport employees in Sofia, expressing hope that there would be more dialogue between the Sofia Municipality and the protesters.
