The European Music Festival invites Sofia residents to a colorful and lively music and dance show, Europe Dances, on 21 May 2025 at 6:30 p.m. under the domes of the Largo.

Now in its ninth year, this traditional festival event will once again bring together children's and youth dance groups from across Sofia on one stage. Nine ensembles comprising over 300 participants will present a diverse programme featuring classical and modern ballet, European and Bulgarian folk dances, Latin and contemporary styles.

The show's scriptwriter and host is Alexander Mutafchiyski, the beloved soloist and director of the National Musical Theatre. A key partner of the event is the Sredets Cultural Community Centre, which will contribute its renowned ensembles: the Zdravec dance group and the Sredets Children's and Youth Folk Dance ensemble - Bulgaria's oldest folk dance group, founded in 1937.

Audience members will also enjoy exquisite performances by students from the prestigious Masha Ilieva Children's Ballet School, the vibrant Impulse-Sofia dance club, and Victoria Stoyanova's impressive students from the Alisa ballet studio, a three-time laureate of the Orpheus Talent competition in modern choreography. These groups are also part of the Sredets Cultural Community Centre.

Young talents from various formations of the National Palace of Children will also participate, including the children’s and youth folk ensemble Izvorche, the ballet school Allegretta, the modern ballet studio Tsvetni Mechti (Colorful Dreams) and the sports dance club Style. Entrance to the show is free.

The 25th European Music Festival is organised by Cantus Firmus with financial support from the Ministry of Culture and the Sofia Municipality’s Cultural Events Calendar.
