Most foreign workers in Bulgaria are employed in tourism, construction and transport.
This information comes from Atanas Katsarchev, chief economist of the "Podkrepa" trade union, who spoke to BNR. He added that, due to the lack of medical personnel, foreign workers may also be directed to the health sector. The trade union is firmly against relaxing the rules on hiring foreigners.
'Currently, large companies can hire up to 20% of their staff from abroad, and small and medium-sized companies can hire up to 35%. The government is proposing that 50% of all staff can be foreign without providing any analysis," said Katsarchev.
