The E3 international tourist route, which includes the Kom-Emine trail along the Stara Planina mountain ridge, is being extended. The European Hiking Federation (ERA) has accepted the Black Sea Route walking trail as an official extension of the E3 route, said the Black Sea Route Association on their Facebook page.

They received a letter from Steen Kobberø-Hansen, Chair of the E-Routes Commission, and Boris Micic, President of the European Hiking Federation. The announcement reads: "I am pleased to inform you that the ERA Board has officially approved the expansion of the E3 path to include the Black Sea Route along the Bulgarian coast, from Kom-Emine to Durankulak and Rezovo, and potentially further towards Constanța."

The E3 European long-distance path is over 8,800 km long and stretches from the Atlantic Ocean to the Black Sea. It passes through Spain, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria. The 600 km Kom-Emine route begins at Mount Kom (2,016 m), near the border with Serbia, and follows the spine of the Balkan Mountains (Stara Planina in Bulgarian). Until now, the Kom-Emine route formed the final section of the E3 path.
