CITUB President Plamen Dimitrov announced readiness for protests in at least four or five areas of the public sector with demands for higher wages, BNR has reported.
According to the trade union’s analysis, the average salary in the private sector has been growing much faster than that in the public sector for the past 4 years. While the growth in the private sector in the period 2021-2025 is over 30%, in the public sector it is just 17%, Plamen Dimitrov pointed out. “We still have salaries in the public sector of 750-800 euros, regardless of whether it is low- or high-skilled labor,” he said.
Dimitrov also said that the recent protest by public transport employees, which left Sofia residents without buses, trams and trolleybuses for six days, was not political.
