More than 2,000 post offices in small towns and villages will exchange Leva for Euro from the day Bulgarian joins the Eurozone, Stanimir Belinov, deputy director of Bulgaria’s national postal service Bulgarian Posts said for the BNR. Every customer will be able to exchange up to 10,000 Leva by showing an identity document. For sums of over 10,000 Leva, they will have to submit prior notification 3-5 days in advance, Stanimir Belinov explained. “We shall be ready to adopt the Euro by 1 January,2026,” he said further. “For half a year after the introduction of the Euro, converting the Leva to Euro will be free of charge at post offices, after which Bulgarian Posts will exchange Leva for Euro for another 6 months for a commission.”
