'The business community is ready to join the eurozone, and a grim scenario is unlikely after the euro is adopted,' said Deputy Prime Minister and BSP leader Atanas Zafirov, as reported by BNR journalist Daniel Inkov.
Prior to the publication of the convergence report on Bulgaria's readiness to adopt the single currency on 4 June, Zafirov met with employers. He commented that the division in society over joining the eurozone and adopting the euro as the national currency is fuelled by political forces driven by partisan motives. He stressed that politicians must dispel fears about the euro through an adequate information campaign.
