The Commission on Protection of Competition, the National Revenue Agency and the Commission for Consumer Protection are joining forces against unfair traders who may use the introduction of the euro, as well as the period leading up to January 1, 2026, to unjustifiably raise the prices of goods and services. The coordination between the institutions is expected to contribute to more effective monitoring and response in cases of violations.
The Director of the National Revenue Agency, Rumen Spetsov, assured that inspections have already begun in retail outlets across the country.
The Chair of the Commission for Consumer Protection, Maria Filipova, noted that some retailers have already started displaying prices in both leva and euros. However, some indicate the euro price in red, which confuses consumers who think it is a promotional price.
