Bulgaria and Kazakhstan will work on the development of the Trans-Caspian international transport corridor, known as the "Middle Corridor". This was agreed upon by the presidents of the two countries, Rumen Radev and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in Astana. A memorandum to this effect was signed in the presence of the two presidents, reported the special envoy of the Bulgarian National Radio in Kazakhstan, Mira Stefanova.

The two countries also agreed to deepen their cooperation in trade and investment. Tokayev stressed Kazakhstan's readiness to encourage more Bulgarian companies to invest in the country.

"Bulgaria is a strategic partner for Kazakhstan," he said, stressing the importance of joint projects in the fields of natural gas, oil, nuclear energy, innovation and artificial intelligence.

"Today, the Trans-Caspian international transport route has become one of the main international highways. We have agreed to consider the issue of including the Bulgarian ports of Burgas and Varna in this corridor," the President of Kazakhstan pointed out. The Trans-Caspian international transport route passes through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan and Georgia. Every year, millions of tons of cargo are transported along the route to Europe.

On Tuesday, June 10, Radev's official visit to Uzbekistan will begin.
