Young people in Bulgaria are ready to be part of the change, but they do not believe that they are given the opportunity, indicate data of a national survey conducted by Research Center Trend, which was presented today by the association "Network for the Development of Personality and Talents". 53% of young people believe that their generation can change Bulgaria. 50% say they are willing to get involved in public processes and policy formulation, as long as they are committed to a specific cause. At the same time, 64% do not believe that they have the opportunity to participate in decision-making at the local level. 54% of respondents believe that young people do not have real access to public influence.
57% of young people believe that someone their age can be a successful public and political leader. However, this belief faces three leading barriers: negative stereotypes towards young people, according to 36% of respondents; lack of opportunities and support (50%) and lack of skills and preparation for participation (44%).
