President Radev thinks that the time for a referendum on the euro has not passed yet

Maybe I am old-fashioned, but I strongly believe in democracy with my proposal for a referendum on the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria. This is what President Rumen Radev told Richard Quest from CNN after the opening of the Tashkent International Investment Forum.

There cannot be a constitutional crisis due to the rejection of the referendum. However, this will undermine the social contract between the government and Bulgarian citizens, the President also said.

The time for a referendum on the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria has not passed. The processes are extremely dynamic and everything is changing very quickly, even in the EU itself. An indicator of this is the departure of the United Kingdom from the union, the President added, quoted by the press service of the presidential institution.
