Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry issues safety recommendations to Bulgarian citizens in the Middle East

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on Bulgarian citizens located in the Middle East region and in particular on the territory of the Republic of Iraq, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to strictly adhere to the security instructions of the local authorities, as well as to regularly inform themselves about the situation following the tension that has arisen in the region.


Bulgarian nationals there should avoid places that are heavily visited and where events related to the gathering of large numbers of people are held, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns.

They call on Bulgarian citizens to contact the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Bulgaria in the respective country and to inform about their location and planned duration of their stay.

Bulgarian citizens located in the territory of the Republic of Iraq can contact the Bulgarian diplomatic mission in Baghdad at the following telephone numbers: +964 780 923 7617, +964 772 772 8220, duty phone outside working hours: +964 780 923 7587 and email address: embassy.baghdad@mfa.bg.

Bulgarian citizens located in the territory of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain can contact the Bulgarian diplomatic mission in Riyadh at the following telephone numbers: +966 11 25 11 553; +966 11 25 11 554; +966 11 23 04 237, as well as the duty phone during non-working hours: +966 55 776 9728. Reports can also be submitted to the embassy's email address: Embassy.Riyadh@mfa.bg.


Bulgarian citizens located in the United Arab Emirates can contact the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Abu Dhabi at the following telephone numbers: 00971 2 6443381; 00971 2 6443383; 00971 2 6443384 and email address: Embassy.Abu.Dhabi@mfa.bg, as well as to the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Dubai at: +971 4 3442419 and email address: Consulate.Dubai@mfa.bg and on duty phone outside working hours: +971 50 452 2728.

Alerts and requests for assistance in emergency situations of Bulgarian citizens are accepted around the clock on the telephone lines of the "Situation Center" Directorate: +359 2 948 24 04; +359 2 971 38 56; +359 893 339 616 or by email: Crisis@mfa.bg, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.
