According to a survey by sociological agency Sova Harris conducted in June, the government’s information campaign on the country’s entry into the Eurozone is unconvincing, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports. 60.1% of the respondents say that by getting rid of the Lev, the country is losing its identity, and 29.8% - that the appearance of Bulgarian symbols on the European currency means gaining identity.

According to 68.7% of the respondents a referendum on the matter should have been held at the beginning of this process. According to 37.2% of the respondents Bulgaria has another option for its development other than the euro, 38.4% say there is no other way, and 24.2% cannot say.
