Thousands of people took part at Sofia Pride 2025, which began this afternoon at Knyaz Alexander I Square in the capital city. The campaign, organized for the 18th consecutive year, aims to promote equality and social integration for LGBTI+ people. It also aims to show support and solidarity with a community that faces widespread prejudice and discrimination, said representatives of the GLAS Foundation — part of the event’s organizers, reported BTA.
The peaceful march through central Sofia is accompanied by moving platforms playing pop and electronic music. There is increased police presence. ''We want the community to feel united, to be seen, and to believe that it can achieve change'', Simeon Vasilev, Chairperson of the GLAS Foundation, told BTA. ''Everyone deserves to live their life and have the opportunity to develop'', added Simeon Vasilev.
Later today, a Family March, organized by opponents of the Pride, will be held.
