An elderly Israeli woman of Bulgarian descent was killed in an Iranian attack on a residential building in the Israeli city of Bat Yam, according to BNR’s correspondents in Israel, Fenya and Iskra Dekalo. Although the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet confirmed the information, it has been reported by Israeli print media and broadcast on ILTV.

Relatives have confirmed that Belina (Bela) Ashkenazi, aged 94, was among those killed in the rocket attack on the 14-storey building. She was the wife of Haim Ashkenazi, the longtime director of the Bulgarian Club in Bat Yam.

ILTV aired a snapshot of the 94-year-old woman.

Due to mobility issues, the Ashkenazis were unable to reach the basement shelter. According to their granddaughter Boena, their son and personal assistant remained with them during the attack.

Haim Ashkenazi and the son are currently in hospital and unable to comment.
