The association "Descendants of refugees and migrants from the territory of North Macedonia" have sent a statement on the case of Ljubco Georgievski, chairman of the defunct association "Ivan Mihaylov Cultural Club" in Bitola.

The letter is addressed to European commissioners, to the rapporteur for North Macedonia in the European Parliament Thomas Weitz, as well as to all MEPs, BTA reports. The association insists that the European institutions review their behavior in the case of Ljubco Georgievski and protect his fundamental rights. It is stated that "the court decision against the Macedonian Bulgarian is a violation of Art. 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights" and that "a state that systematically suppresses freedom of expression and falsifies history has no place in the EU if it does not reform and does not break with its totalitarian past".
On June 12, 2025, the Basic Court in Bitola sentenced Georgievski to a year in prison, suspended sentence, with a two-year probationary period, for a quote on Facebook by Ivan Mihaylov.
