The Ministry of Justice has proposed an amendment to Tariff No. 1 of the State Fees Act, outlining the fees charged by courts, the prosecution service, investigative services, and the Ministry of Justice. According to the government press service, the aim is to update the state fees paid in proceedings relating to Bulgarian citizenship.

The changes provide for a tenfold increase in fees for applications to acquire or restore Bulgarian citizenship.

For applications for release from Bulgarian citizenship and for the issuance of citizenship certificates, the proposed increase in fees is fivefold.

For some other activities relating to the issuance of various certificates in connection with Bulgarian citizenship, the increase in fees is set at double the current amount.
