Today I am submitting my resignation as a member of the Bulgarian parliament. I am submitting it with peace of mind that I am doing something right, the former co-chair of "We Continue the Change" (PP) Kiril Petkov wrote on Facebook. Last week he announced his resignation as co-chair of the PP and a member of parliament. According to him, with this decision he has set a new standard in Bulgarian politics - that political leaders are responsible for the actions of their cadres.

The decision came against the backdrop of a corruption scandal following accusations by district mayors and municipal councillors in Sofia that representatives of the party's leadership had put pressure on them in public procurement procedures.

Yesterday, at a meeting of the National Council that lasted nearly 8 hours, it was decided that Asen Vasilev will be the sole leader of the PP until September when a General Assembly will be held, at which a new leadership will be elected. Kiril Petkov remains a regular member of the party and will not run again for leadership positions, reporter Maria Fileva informed.
