Bulgaria’s U19 women’s volleyball team achieved a prestigious victory over the reigning world champion USA in their fourth group-stage match at the U19 Volleyball World Championships in Osijek. Bulgaria won 3:2 (25:15, 16:25, 27:25, 13:25, 15:5), delivering a dominant performance in the tiebreak and bringing the crowd to its feet with their passionate play. The victory over the world champions was celebrated with a traditional Bulgarian horo chain dance.
The team coached by Atanas Petrov recorded its third win in the group stage, having previously defeated Spain 3:0 and last year’s finalist Turkiye 3:2. In their opening match, Bulgaria lost 1:3 to another major title contender – Poland. Bulgaria’s next match is against Peru. The victory over the USA has already secured Bulgaria a place in the round of 16.
