Today is a historic day for Bulgaria. This was what European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Valdis Dombrovskis, told journalists before the start of the meeting of the Council of the EU, which is to vote on the final decisions for the admission of the country to the eurozone on January 1, 2026. "This is a good day for the Eurogroup and for the eurozone. This makes the eurozone stronger," the European Commissioner added, quoted by BTA.

"We are on the verge of realizing a strategic goal for our country," Bulgarian Minister of Finance, Temenuzhka Petkova, said in Brussels. "The entire process related to Bulgaria's membership in the eurozone is practically ending today. Nothing can stop Bulgaria on its path to the eurozone," Petkova added, quoted by BNR correspondent in Brussels Angelina Piskova.
