Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova said in Brussels, at the official ceremony for signing the final documents marking Bulgaria’s entry into the eurozone and the adoption of the euro on 1 January 2026, that the country will remain a firm supporter of fiscal discipline within the eurozone.

The ceremony was attended by Stephanie Løse, Minister of Economic Affairs of Denmark, the country holding the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union, European Commissioner for the Economy Valdis Dombrovskis, Eurogroup President Pascal Donohue and Vice-President of the European Central Bank Luis de Guindos.

“This is a huge success for our country, a historic day. It has taken years of effort and perseverance to reach this point. Let us congratulate ourselves on this success and rejoice, for only good things await us,” Petkova said, as quoted by BTA.
