Toll system cameras are now synchronized with the Interior Ministry system. This means that drivers driving in the emergency lane will be monitored and penalized, said Interior Minister Daniel Mitov.
“All drivers should know that after the amendments to the Road Traffic Act come into effect, the toll cameras will be able to detect offenders driving in the emergency lanes, track the average speed, and penalize drivers for violations,” Minister Mitov said, as quoted by the BNR’s Nikolay Hristov.
Mobile control units will randomly be stationed in-between cameras to minimize violations in these sections. The cameras will provide information about the vehicle’s registration number, its category, colour, country of registration, place, date and time of the violation, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports.
