A Bulgarian delegation led by Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov held a series of meetings with representatives of the US State Department and the Department of Energy in Washington.

The discussions centred on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries in the energy sector and expanding collaborative initiatives. During the meetings, Stankov reaffirmed Bulgaria's commitment to being a reliable and predictable partner in transatlantic energy cooperation. 'Long-term energy security requires collective efforts.

The US is a powerful ally of Bulgaria's in implementing key regional projects and achieving real energy source diversification,' Minister Stankov told Tommy Joyce, Assistant Secretary for International Affairs at the Department of Energy.

The importance of US involvement in key projects for Bulgaria, such as the construction of Units 7 and 8 of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant and the implementation of the Vertical Gas Corridor, was emphasised. The two sides discussed the potential for US investment in strategic areas such as critical minerals and high technologies.
