The price of the consumer basket in Bulgaria has increased by 7.45% on a yearly basis

The consumer basket currently costs 101 leva (EUR 51.64), compared to 94 leva (EUR 48.06) for the same period in 2024. This represents an increase of 7 leva (EUR 3.58 euros), announced Vladimir Ivanov, Chairman of the Commodity Exchange and Wholesale Markets State Commission, at a briefing. He presented a weekly overview of wholesale price trends for basic food products, fruits and vegetables for the period May 20-July 21, 2025.

Fruit prices have contributed the most to the overall increase. They have gone up by 4 leva (EUR 1.94) due to the drought. Prices of basic food products have increased by 3 leva (EUR 1.53). Since May 20, there have been no sharp movements in wholesale prices, according to the Commodity Exchange and Wholesale Markets State Commission.

Flour prices have increased by 23% on an annual basis, while the prices of eggs and cooking oil have gone up by 24%.
