Weather forecast for 31 July

No change in temperatures expected; southern regions to see rain

On Thursday, minimum temperatures will range from 15 to 22°C, in Sofia – 16°C. Heavy rain clouds will develop from the southwest to the east-northeast during the day, bringing short showers and thunderstorms. In the south, there will be intense rainfall accompanied by strong winds. There is also a chance of hail. A light to moderate northerly wind will blow, reaching strong speeds in the south-eastern regions. Maximum temperatures will range from 25 to 30°C, reaching around 24°C in Sofia.


Along the Black Sea coast, there will be temporary increases in cloud cover. Brief showers are expected, mainly over the southern coast. A moderate wind will blow from the east-northeast. Maximum air temperatures will range from 27 to 39°C. The sea temperature will range from 25 to 27°C. The sea state will be 2–3.


Cumulus and rain clouds are expected in the mountains, bringing brief but heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms. Intense rainfall is forecast for the mountainous regions of southern Bulgaria. A light to moderate northerly wind will prevail, strengthening during thunderstorms. Maximum temperatures will be around 19°C at 1,200 metres and around 12°C at 2,000 metres.


On Friday morning, it will be mostly sunny. After noon, there will be scattered rain clouds, with rain and thunderstorms in some places. The wind will weaken and shift to the northeast.
