The government will submit a report to the National Assembly tomorrow detailing the readiness of each relevant ministry to procure specialised firefighting equipment, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov announced.
He recalled that the previous parliament had adopted a resolution obliging the then Council of Ministers to update MPs on the measures taken to utilise funds from the Environment Operational Programme for the acquisition of such equipment. The resolution also stipulates that the purchase of specialised aircraft for the Ministry of the Interior must be financed.
Prime Minister Zhelyazkov has instructed the Ministries of Defence, the Interior and Transport and Communications to assess their respective capacities to deploy and operate such aircraft.
'In the meantime, throughout August, we will continue to rely on existing equipment, along with resources made available through the European mechanism,' Zhelyazkov stated, as quoted by BTA.
