Burgas is the town where Bulgarian opera diva Raina Kabaivanska started her remarkable career on the world’s opera stages. That is why it is in Burgas that a photo exhibition has opened, tracing the life, career and charity work of the Bulgarian opera singer in 150 photos.

The exhibition is mottoed “My awakeners” and features some of Raina Kabaivanska’s most spectacular roles at the world’s most prestigious opera houses, as well as unforgettable performances alongside world famous opera singers like Luciano Pavarotti and Placido Domingo.

The photographs also showcase an important anniversary -  25 years since the start of the international master classes which the opera singer organizes in Sofia. More than 250 young performers have so far attended her master classes, of them 111 have received Raina Kabaivanska scholarships. This has been the singer’s mission over many years – to support young opera talents.

The project “My awakeners” also features photographs from Raina Kabaivanska’s personal archive, but most of the them are by photographer Kostadin Krastev-Koko.
