Bulgaria’s top geography secondary school students won 4 medals at the world’s most prestigious geography contest, the International Geography Olympiad (iGeo). At the 21st iGeo, the contestants from Bulgaria won 3 silver and 1 bronze medal – one of the top performances by Bulgarian participants in the Olympiad, the Natural Sciences Olympic Teams Association has announced. The tournament brought together students from more than 50 countries in Thailand 26 July to 1 August.
The silver medals went to Zvezdemir Prenev, 11th grade at the Secondary School of Mathematics in Varna, Boris Donkov, 11th grade at the National Secondary School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in Sofia and Nikolay Kostadinov, 12th grade at the Secondary school of Mathematics in Varna. The bronze went to 12th grade student Kristian Petrov from Kazanlak. The team leaders are Dr. Kaloyan Tsvetkov and Assoc. Prof. Dimitar Zhelev from Sofia University’s faculty of geology and geography.
