Harmanite Beach in Sozopol was closed after a military drone was washed ashore

A military drone that had washed ashore led to Harmanite Beach in Sozopol being cordoned off by the police. A tourist found the drone early in the morning and reported it to 112, Bulgaria's emergency number.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed that the device was a military drone and explained that its broken wings and the seashells on its fuselage suggested that the unmanned aerial vehicle had been in the sea for several months.

Naval sappers remotely detonated the object. It was most likely just the aircraft's fuselage, with no explosive material present. No one was injured and no material damage was caused.

According to Radio Burgas, it is still unclear how the military drone ended up on one of the most popular beaches in Sozopol, on the southern Black Sea coast, and whether this is connected to the war in Ukraine.
