Customs officers in Sofia confiscate large amount of smuggled vapes

Photo: Bulgarian Customs Agency

During an inspection by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation department at the Sofia Customs Department, 2,800 illegal disposable electronic cigarettes of the "vape" type were found, the Customs Agency reported, quoted by BGNES. Each of them contains 15 milliliters of liquid or a total of 42,000 ml. of smoking liquid.

The electronic cigarettes without a Bulgarian tax stamp and with a quantity of liquid exceeding many times that permitted by law were found in a logistics base on the territory of the city of Sofia. They are from China, disguised as water-resistant sprays intended for a legal entity on the territory of the country.

According to initial data, the illegal vapes contain nicotine, and a laboratory examination will establish whether its quantity corresponds to that described on the packaging and what other substances are contained in the smoking liquid.
