The Council of Ministers is providing almost 2 million Leva (approximately EUR 1 million) to municipalities for activities connected under four national programmes for the development of education, the government press service has announced.

The “Road Safety” programme will provide training materials to kindergartens and schools, the programme “School without aggression for a safe school environment” will work towards a safer educational environment and an improved communication culture with the help of initiatives connected with preventing violence, while “Together for every child” will try to help bring children to 97 kindergartens and schools.

The biggest sum – over 907,000 Leva (approximately EUR 464,000) is earmarked for the programme providing a modern, safe and accessible educational environment. This money will be spent on furnishing modern school rooms and interest activities spaces in 47 municipal institutions with the aim of developing capabilities in the sphere of the sciences.

In May this year the government approved 25 national educational programmes for the coming academic year, 3 of which are new – Future for Talents, Skills in Focus and Safety.
