The autumn session of the 51st Bulgarian National Assembly was opened with the anthems of the Republic of Bulgaria and the European Union, after which the parliamentary speaker Natalia Kiselova called on the deputies to be fully aware of the responsibility they bear to the citizens.

Natalia Kiselova
“The challenges facing the Bulgarian society and state are serious – social inequality, ineffective justice, fighting corruption without dividing it into ours and yours, demographic crisis, quality of education, lack of accessible healthcare outside the large regional centers, economic and social development of the country we want, dynamics of international relations”, said Natalia Kiselova.

Toma Bikov
In declarations, the parliamentary groups outlined their priorities. “During this parliamentary session, GERB-SDS will continue to uphold the understanding that Bulgarian society needs predictable, stable and functioning institutions,” said Toma Bikov on behalf of the first political force, assuring that GERB will continue to bear responsibility for governing the country, because it is aware of the difficulties, efforts and obligations that it requires.

Nadezhda Yordanova
“Through the vote of no confidence, we will reveal in detail the regime of dependencies and convince citizens that the state can be theirs and there is an alternative,” said Nadezhda Yordanova on behalf of PP-DB coalition and called on citizens not to be deceived by the claim that the choice before them is between Bulgaria’s European path and the swamp of the conquered state.

Костадин Костадинов
The leader of Vazrazhdane party, Kostadin Kostadinov, announced that according to unofficial data, the population has decreased by 1.5 million people over the past 16 years and added: “Bulgaria does not have much time left to waste – if we do not want to become silent witnesses to our own demise, we must restore the faith of the Bulgarian people in themselves and with our votes throw out the anti-national elite.”

“The MRF’s parliamentary group will continue to focus its policy on current problems of the people such as the water crisis, the speculative increase in prices, the disasters that befell Bulgarian citizens and their compensation, as well as permanent problems – income, security in the state, a predictable business environment, such as protecting the country’s Euro-Atlantic orientation,” said the MP from the MRF – New Beginning, Yordan Tsonev.

On behalf of the “BSP – United Left”, which is part of the government, Dragomir Stoynev announced that the next stage of efforts is a return to the rules of parliamentary democracy, laws, clear principles of governance, quality reforms in order to restore trust in parliamentarism. “This gap between citizens and their institutions is a dangerous trend and must be closed through transparency, accountability and policies that people actually feel in their everyday lives”, he stressed.

“Our priorities in legislative work will be related to completing the removal of dead souls from the Electoral Code and introducing 100% machine voting, we will insist on equal application of the law to all, regardless of what kind of citizens they are, we will insist on a balanced budget in order to cure ourselves of the incompetence of Assen Vassilev, we will work for direct participation of the people in government”, said Stanislav Balabanov from “There is Such a People” (ITN), whose party also participates in the cabinet.

Hayri Sadakov assured that the “Alliance for Rights and Freedoms” will be a corrective to the government, a defender of all Bulgarian citizens and an honest voice of the municipalities that want freedom, not subjugation: “Bulgaria has no time to waste and we will not allow it to be buried by timelessness and political cannibalism.”

Radostin Vasilev
“Bulgaria in 2025 is in a waking coma, our homeland has become a state of absurdity – supposedly in the European Union, supposedly an economy in growth, but the reality is a disintegrating state,” said the leader of MECH Radostin Vassilev, whose party will submit a vote of no confidence in the government of Rosen Zhelyazkov in a few days.

Ivelin Mihaylov
“When a person walks around Bulgaria, they will see what the situation is like – people are in a pre-revolutionary situation, like they were in Romania in 1989, they don’t listen to simple talk, they just want to have water, someone to put out the fire, the judicial system to work simply, the police to do their job,” said Velichie leader Ivelin Mihaylov, who declared the National Assembly and the government illegitimate after the “most falsified elections” in Bulgaria.

While the MPs were reading their declarations in the plenary hall, citizens protested in front of the parliament building, raising the slogan “The Legitimate National Assembly of the Bulgarian People against an illegitimately elected parliament.”
