Bulgaria has a chance to receive over 22 billion euros through the new EU programming budget

Unprecedentedly, Bulgaria will get a chance to access 22.3 billion euros. This was stated by MEP Andrey Novakov at a joint briefing for Bulgarian journalists in Strasbourg with his colleagues Andrey Kovatchev and Emil Radev.

"Bulgaria will get a chance to access 22.3 billion euros in the next programming period 2028-2034. The seven-year budget is to the tune of 2 trillion euros - hardly enough, but it is a step in the right direction," Novakov stressed. "Bulgaria is among those who will benefit the most if we manage to get our money - something that was a mirage in previous years," he added.

According to him, the EU should have its own revenues - "regardless of whether this means levies on plastic bags and bank transactions or fairer taxes for internet giants."
