From 16 September, the History Museum in Panagyurishte will be hosting the original Panagyurishte Gold Treasure. The priceless find will be displayed in the museum’s secure vault hall, where it can be seen until October 23. The treasure will be on display in the museum’s vault hall until October 23, offering a rare chance to admire the exquisite craftsmanship of its nine gold vessels.
The treasure was discovered by chance in 1949, when workers digging for clay near Panagyurishte unearthed it at a depth of 2.2 meters. Consisting of nine vessels — a phiale (a shallow ceremonial bowl) and eight rhytons (wine-drinking vessels) — the treasure showcases masterful goldsmithing. Its forms blend Hellenic motifs with Thracian and Achaemenid artistic traditions.
