Bulgaria and the United States confirm their civil nuclear cooperation

Bulgaria's Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov and US Secretary of Energy Christopher Wright signed a joint statement confirming the concluded intergovernmental agreement to strengthen civil nuclear cooperation. The document was signed within the framework of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency, which is taking place in Vienna, the Ministry of Energy announced.

With the signed document, Bulgaria will have the opportunity to benefit from US technologies for the accelerated implementation of small modular reactors.

Next week, Minister Stankov will be part of the Bulgarian delegation led by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov in New York to participate in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. In the US, Stankov will talk with government and corporate leaders from the nuclear sector.
