Yuliana Yaneva won a silver medal in the 68 kg category at the 2025 World Wrestling Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. In the final, she lost 2:4 to Japan’s Ishii Ami. This is the first medal for the national wrestling team at the championship. Ahmed Magamaev and Bilyana Dudova lost their matches for 3rd–5th place.

This is the first world championship medal for the 27-year-old Bulgarian athlete, who became European champion in the same arena in 2023. In the 72 kg category, she won a silver medal at the 2021 European Wrestling Championship in Warsaw and two bronze medals- at the European Wrestling Championships in Budapest and Bucharest.

On Saturday, September 20, David Dimitrov will take to the mat in the 72 kg Greco-Roman style category. His opponent will be Parviz Nasibov from Ukraine, who won silver medals at the last two Olympic Games in the 67 kg category.
